Pujyasri devinatha was born in 1905 at Polagam, a village   of Thanjavur District into a family known for proficiency in the Vedas. His then name was Ramachandra Shastrigal. He  lost his parents at a very early age. He always excelled among his fellow students and friends due to his astounding grasp of the Vedas. He was forthright in his views and had a factual understanding of the Vedas and rituals. He insisted that every woman be given due respect and equal rights as men, both socially and spiritually. After completing his Veda Adhyayanam at the Patasala of Kaveripoompattinam, he began teaching the Vedas at Vaideeshwaran Temple near Mayavaram.

Initiation by Sri Matha on Ashada-Purvaphalguni
On Ashada Purvaphalguni day, very early in the morning, he had the experience of Goddess Choolikamba initiating him (Giving Deeksha) into Srividya Path, the king of divine experience during this process. This day is one of the most important Guru Purnima for this mandalam. The Ashada Purvaphalguni day is celebrated in South India as a special day of spiritual significance for Goddess Rajarajeshwari Lalitha.

Svarupaanubhava on Akshaya Tritiya day

One day at Tiruvarur, he had an unique experience wherein he realized that he was omnipresent in all beings; he couldn't distinguish between himself and the rest of the existence. In this Samadhi state, he went to the famous Thiyagaraja temple at Tiruvarur and sat in meditation for 48 days in a small sanctum sanctorum kind of structure beneath a Patala tree (This structure exists even today). On the third day which happened to be Akshaya Tritiya, he realised himself as Sri Thiyagaraja performing puja to Sri Kamalamba. He already had a vision of himself as Chakraraja with details about his Kameswara swarupa and the avatara visesha. After akshaya tritiyai day, the Kameswara bhava was enshrined in him permanently..He authored a monumental research work called sriShTi sahacaraM pArameshvaraM vedamArgaM in the 1940s. This masterpiece explains the essence of the true Vedic/Hindu religion, emphasizes that the Vedas are common to humanity without any discrimination, and critiques how deviations from the Vedic path occurred due to the influence of various philosophies and practices. He also authored “shrIvidyA sUtraM,” a treasure for Srividya Upasakas. This sutram explains the concept of creation and Srividya Shastram, guiding practitioners to the highest levels of spiritual evolution. He got a message from Srimatha asking him to go to the forest for tapas and that she would join him there. Gurudeva left Chennai and on the way to the forest, he met Pujyasri Devi who was Srimatha Herself and married her and established the Divya parampara of Lalitha Kameswara. After the marriage they proceeded to a thick forest near Injikuzhi above the Bhaana Theertham in the Agastya Koota hills in south of Tamil Nadu and started their penance. Though very young, the way Pujyasri Devi herself to the forest life clearly conveys the purpose for which she had taken this human form. Acceding to the requests of their shishyas who found it difficult to visit the forest and have their darshan, they moved to Konai forest in Andhra Pradesh which is about 100 kms from Chennai, in June 1955 and continued their tapas. People from various parts of the country came here and got their initiation into Sri Vidya upasana.People from various parts of the country came to him to become his disciples and received initiation into Srividya Upasana. Pujyasri Gurudeva Dampathy, who were Mahashakti Lalitha and Kameshwara themselves, established the Divya Parampara, the divine Mahathee Mandalam. Their divine forms as Lalitha and Kameshwara were experienced and realized by each of their sishyas. The avathara rahasyam of Poojyasri Gurudeva Dhampathi and their upadesams and many miracles experienced by various people have been given in detail in various publications brought out by the Mahathee Mandalam from time to time.
